Our soothing Honey And Lemon Drink is a delicious, refreshing and comforting lemon tea recipe with a twist of warming ginger.

When I’m suffering with a cold or sore throat, or just feeling under the weather in the midst of flu season, then I make myself this lovely soothing honey and lemon drink with a kick or warming ginger.

Lemon tea is the ideal hot beverage for soothing the throat or just as a nicecaffeine free warming honey tea drink to sip on a wintery day. And makes a nice change from black tea.

A hot honey drink is just super comforting and delicious, the ginger is a good for giving immunity boost, fresh lemon juice is a great source of vitamin C and its a really simple remedy to make too.

Hot Lemon Honey Tea Recipe

Prep Time – 5 minutes

Brew Time – 5-10 minutes

Ingredients For Hot Honey And Lemon Drink

You’ll just need four ingredients to brew up a cup of soothing honey lemon tea.

  • Root Ginger – thumb sized piece of ginger – peeled and coarsely grated
  • Half a lemon – juiced
  • 1-2 tsp honey – if I’m under the weather I usually use Manuka honey for my honey and lemon drink
  • Boiling water – to fill up the cup

Note – this drink isn’t suitable for children under one year old because it contains honey which can cause botulism in babies and young children.

  • Kettle
  • 2 Cups
  • Sharp Knife
  • Chopping Board
  • Lemon Juicer
  • Grater
  • Teaspoon
  • Sieve

How To Make Honey And Lemon Drink

Step By Step Instructions – It’s super easy to make our delicious lemon tea, you’ll have your hands wrapped around the mug in no time.

Step One – boil the water ready to make the honey tea

  • Put the kettle on to boil the water.

Step Two – prepare all the ingredients for the honey and lemon tea drink

  • Add the coarsely grated ginger to a cup.
  • Pour over the boiling water, filling the cup about 3/4 full.
  • Allow the ginger to steep in the boiling water for five minutes so that all the lovely gingery pulp flavours the hot water.
  • After five minutes pour the water through a sieve into a fresh cup. This will remove the chunks of ginger from your lemon tea.

Step Three – sweeten the lemon tea with honey

  • Add the lemon juice to the ginger infused water.
  • Sweeten the lemon and ginger tea with a teaspoon or two of honey.
  • Stir the honey and lemon drink well to combine all the flavours.
