I’m finally getting on board with the jumpsuit trend! A jumpsuit is a brilliant concept for everyday and fancy events. With the top and bottom attached, you get an entire outfit in one piece of clothing! That means you have fewer decisions to make in the morning to get ready. You can just throw one on and go. The best part of wearing a jumpsuit is that they are super comfy in the midsection. You don’t have a binding waistband to deal with!
Styles of jumpsuits
There are so many different styles of jumpsuits out there.
From super casual jumpsuits of French terry cloth with a tank shaped top and drawstring waist, to apron jumpsuits that are reminiscent of overalls without the buckles. To utility coverall jumpsuits in thick denim, cotton or twill with short or long sleeves.
And wide-leg printed or solid colored jumpsuits that can be dressed up or down. And dressier jumpsuits with a halter neck or a wrap top and sequins (super trendy) that you can dress up for a co*cktail party or special occasions.
There’s a jumpsuit for any event and every day of the week. Choose one with rayon fabric and a simple silhouette that you can dress up or down and you’ll find your jumpsuit is a super versatile addition to your wardrobe!
Buy one in a bright color to make a statement and light up your skin tone. Or choose one in a fun pattern to take on vacation with you and you’ll wear it constantly.
As someone whose top is smaller than her bottom, I have a hard time finding dresses that work. And I assumed jumpsuits wouldn’t fit my body type for the same reason.If this is you, too, you may be pleasantly surprised.
I tried a few on and was shocked that they fit.
First, I tried on a pink utility casual jumpsuit at Old Navy with long sleeves. This is a size large. I wear size 12 jeans, and it fits!
Black loafers wouldn’t be the shoes I’d choose to wear with this jumpsuit, so please ignore them, ha.
It didn’t feel like me though, so it didn’t come home with me.
I felt encouraged enough by the fit to try a simple black jumpsuit at Loft with short sleeves and wide legs.

This jumpsuit has a v-neck and muscle tee cap sleeves, wide legs, and a cinched waist with an attached belt. I’d like this jumpsuit better if the belt were loose. That way, I could use one of my own belts to define the waistline and add more visual interest.
I was pleasantly surprised that it fit. And started imagining wearing it as a comfy alternative to shorts in warmer weather. Or dressing it up for date nights or even for more formal events.

I imagine creating this kind of simple look all the time in the summer for dining outside, meeting up with a friend, or on vacation.

With a tan duster sweater and black slide shoes
This is by far the coziest outfit ever. Wear this if you’re entertaining at home but want to look more elevated.

If your workplace dress code allows jumpsuits, choose shoes with a heel and wear a coat or tailored jacket over top.
With a trench coat and black block heel slides
I can’t resist a sharp-looking trench coat outfit! For transitional weather, a trench coat is a great way to look really put together. It provides a classic and elevated feel to anything you put on with it.

I’m wearing black 2.75” block heel slides. They are the perfect high heels since they’re comfortable all day and stylish. This is a look that easily takes you from day to night.
With a black blazer and tan cap toe ballet flats
Adding a black blazer over the top of your jumpsuit creates a sharp look you can wear into a meeting. Or if you work from home and want to be comfortable and look put together for Zoom calls, just throw a blazer over the top of your jumpsuit.

Here’s the same look you saw above, but with strappy black heels instead. Strappy heels are the best shoes to wear to dress up your jumpsuit for a night out. Choose a block heel and they’ll be more comfortable. This makes such a stylish outfit!
